Composer and guitarist. Ph.D., University of California, San Diego, with Brian
Ferneyhough. Extensive study and professional activity in Europe, including a
year-long course in computer music at IRCAM in Paris. Amongst various
distinctions, two Ensemble Intercontemporain commissions, as well as First
Prize and a special jury award at the Bourges International Electroacoustic
Music Competition. Beyond the U.S., his vocal, instrumental, and electroacoustic music has been performed throughout Europe and in Australia.
Current projects include music for Australia‚s ELISION ensemble and the 2005
Rümlingen Festival in Switzerland. Levine has taught composition, theory, and electronic music at SFSU since Fall 2000.
