Dance Placement Auditions

For all new majors and minors in Dance

The purpose of the placement audition is to assess the new major or minor for the proper technique level in the SF State Dance program. Each new SF State dancer brings to campus a spectrum of training, and the dancer’s perception of “beginning” or "advanced" may--or may not--match the rigors of the technical training at the university. The placement audition helps the Dance faculty meet you and make this assessment. The audition will cover material from our level II courses in Ballet, Jazz, and Modern Dance. Dress in appropriate attire for a technique class.
