Ray Tadio, Tenure-Track Faculty in Dance Ray Tadio teaches internationally in jazz, modern jazz, and Lester Horton modern dance technique conducting workshops as well as setting choreography on dance companies, dance academies, and private studios. He is the 1996 recipient of the "Le Huit d'Or" award in France for excellence in jazz and contemporary dance. He received his dance training at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in NYC. He became a member if the repertory ensemble from 1983-1986. Later he began teaching at the Ailey school and continued as a Lester Horton modern dance instructor until 1994. Ray's performing experience is an eclectic blend of styles and expression. He performed with the Joyce Trisler DansCompany, Kevin Wynn Collection, David Rousseve, Ruby Shang and Dancers, Asian American Dance Theater, Philippine Folk Dance Co. and numerous companies in NYC as well as abroad. Ray co-founded, co-directed, choreographed and danced for Footprints Project Dance Company of NYC from 1989-1994 which served as performance training outlet for some of the dancers of the Ailey School. He resided in Amsterdam, Holland from 1995-1998 to become resident choreographer, instructor, and rehearsal director for the Theaterschool/Jazz Theater Show Musical department. Ray returned to California in 1999 as a Visiting Artist and Lecturer at the University of California in Davis and to acquire his Bachelor's Degree in Art at San Jose State University. The School of Music and Dance is proud to welcome him into our family.
