Reservations are required for all auditions. To be considered a music major
at San Francisco State University, you must audition and be accepted as a
music major!

For students who intend to enroll as a music major but missed the auditions
for the Fall semester, we will be holding a late audition session on the
summer placement exam date, Friday, August 22nd.
You must register for an
audition by submitting a Supplemental Music Application by August 1st.
Scholarship decisions for the 2008-2009 academic year were made based on the
Spring auditions. Scholarship auditions for '09-'10 will be held in
February of 2009.

After your application is received you will receive a confirmation e-mail
with your audition date and times.
Please make sure that you are aware
of all audition
requirements and are prepared with those
materials on the day of your audition.
Undergraduate Applicants: In addition to your audition, you will be required
to take a theory, ear training/musicianship, and piano (for non-piano majors
only) placement exam on the same day. For more information, please see our

Graduate Applicants: In addition to your audition, you will be required
to take a theory, ear training/musicianship, and history placement exam.
The ear training/musicianship exam will be given on the day of your audition
and the history and theory exam will be scheduled during the week before
